airfare Listings in Google Search Results? They Could Soon Appear

Google may be getting ready to debut its robust flight airfare search service in the coming weeks. Techcrunch reports that a "well-placed industry source" said that Google's ITA-powered travel search service may launch "as soon as a few weeks from now."

Google's move into the airfare search game shouldn't be too big of a surprise--the search giant made a $700 million deal to purchase flight data aggregation company ITA Software back in July 2010. In April 2011, the U.S. Department of Justice signed off on the acquisition after providing a few conditions to promote "robust competition" and allow other competing travel search sites to continue to use ITA's software.

 

Chile volcano grounds flights

Clouds of ash spewing from Chile's Puyehue volcano have grounded flights at airports in the capitals of Uruguay and Argentina, where a major football tournament is being held.

Scores of local and international flights were delayed or cancelled in and out of Buenos Aires, regional airport authority Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 said on its web page.

 

Qatar airways to increase Saudi flights from July 14
Beginning next Thursday, July 14, Qatar airways will be operating four flights a week between Doha and Medina.

Qatar airways is set to significantly increase flights to Saudi Arabia with the introduction of a fourth destination and additional services to existing markets, representing a dramatic 71% rise in frequency.

The Doha–Medina route will be operated non-stop with an Airbus A320 in a two-class configuration of 12 seats in First Class and 132 in economy.
